About Workouts++

Workouts++ lets you completely customize your Apple Watch workouts to display whatever fitness data you'd like — from a 6 metric display packed with info to a focused single metric display. For each metric you can setup conditional coloring and haptic alerts to help keep you in the zone. You can even display graphs of your performance to help you understand how well your workout is going.

You can view detailed statistics for all of your past workouts (whether you've collected them in Workouts++ or not). This includes summary statistics as well as graphs showing available minute-by-minute performance statistics.

Your lifetime stats are also summarized to give you a better idea of what your past performance looks like and how/when you typically workout.

Notes:
• Workouts++ requires an Apple Watch to collect the data it displays
• Workouts++ integrates with the Health App on your iPhone to retrieve the data it displays. It will request permission to access the relevant data types associated with a workout.
• Streaming podcasts requires an Series 3 LTE Apple Watch and active cellular service.

This update is focused on making the Apple Watch app even more capable and independent. You can now view a list of all the recent workouts performed on your Apple Watch. This shows both workouts completed within Workouts++ or in any other workout app. Tap on any workout to view detailed stats and graphs including:
- Heart rate graph
- Speed graph
- Route Map

It also improves the way Dark Mode works on the iPhone to make it better match system choices.

Finally, it adds support for Disc Sports and Fitness Games workout modes.

This update adds support for some of the new features in iOS and watchOS:
- Better workout recovery and quicker saving
- Adds support for the new larger Apple Watch displays
- An integrated Now Playing control right in the app for managing audio playback on your iPhone or other app
- Adds support for the Infograph and Infograph Modular complications
- Also, fixes the names of a few workout types and lots of little tweaks.

It does, however, also remove the ability to play podcasts from within the app. In watchOS 5 this is now available to proper podcast apps, so it isn't really needed in Workouts++ anymore. I added the feature back when only workout app could play audio while disconnected from your iPhone, however, it was never really a good fit for the primary purpose of the app. I'd rather remove the feature (and all the bugs and complexity associated with it) and be able to focus on the core purpose of Workouts++...being the best, most customizable workout tracker possible for the Apple Watch. I'm sure this will be sad news for some of my users, and I'm sorry about that but I believe it is the best thing for the app moving forward to focus on what it can do best.

This is a bit of a 'kitchen-sink' update fixing and improving things throughout the app. The highlights are:
- Better handling of saved workout routes to ensure they get synced over more consistently
- Faster Heart Rate sampling
- Support for *every* activity type that the Apple Watch can support (75 in total)
- Add optional countdown timer to the start of your workout (configurable per workout)
- Re-lock workout on resume when Auto-Lock enabled
- Add zoom option for heart rate charts, especially interesting when using Bluetooth monitor
- Add support for hardware pause/resume gesture (quick press both crown and side button)
- Lots and lots and lots of little bug fixes.

I hope you like it!

Just a quick clean-up update. The last one accidentally caused the workout display screen to sometimes not reset to your workout metrics when you manually locked the Apple Watch app. Sorry about that!

Thank you all for a phenomenal reception for version 2.0 of Workouts++! I really appreciate all the feedback and suggestions. I have a long list of features and abilities I'm working to add, in the meantime however, this quick update is focused around making things work more smoothly and fix a few bugs.
- Address a situation where the workout recover feature would get stuck in a loop, leading to duplicate workouts saved
- Limit the podcast episodes shown on the Apple Watch to recent ones to make it quicker to find the one you want
- Try to detect the situation when Health permissions have not been given to the app to avoid the situation where you start a workout and then don't see any data

I hope you enjoy Workouts++. If you have a minute to leave a review in the App Store for it I would really appreciate it. They really help other users find the app.

Just a minor bug fix update fix a few issues in v2.0:
- An issue where battery monitoring might fail to update
- An issue where bad podcast images wouldn't load

NEW in 2.0:

Workouts++ has been redesigned from top to bottom to take advantage of all the new features in watchOS 4. This update allows you to use your Apple Watch in a whole new way for your workouts. The update includes:
• Support for Apple Watch based podcast playback (either transferred to your Apple Watch or streamed over LTE [Streaming requires Series 3 LTE Apple Watch and cellular service])
• Support for Workout Location tracking and mapping of saved workout routes
• Support for Swimming workouts
• Siri integration (e.g. "Start Outdoor Walking workout in Workouts++")
• Display of VO₂ Max values
• Redesigned custom workout configuration system
• Redesigned workout detail display
• Added Stopwatch, Elevation, Average pace/speed and Activity ring metrics for display during workout
• Added Distance and Duration Alerts
• Workout recovery in the event your battery runs flat during a workout

I also have done a lot of under the covers refinements for the app and generally updated it to be more stable and reliable. I hope you enjoy the update.

Wow! Thank you all so much for the great feedback and for helping Workouts++ to have such a successful launch. While I am hard at work on some more substantial improvements for version 1.1 (including support for Swimming and location tracking), I wanted to get a smaller update out sooner to fix a few issues that have cropped up since launch:
- Add ability to PAUSE a workout (you can also do this using the Digital Crown)
- Fix a bug where metric units were not always showing when configured
- Increase the max range for heart rates in the Config area
- Add Strength, Yoga, Pilates and Functional Training types to the app
- Improve the Speed/Pace calculations to be less volatile.

Please keep letting me know your ideas and suggestions for the app. I read them all.

If you have a minute to leave a review for the app I'd really appreciate it. It really helps!
Thank you,
Dave
